West Lake District's public services have reached another “Next Level.” On May 20, the district launched China’s first 'Tap to Register' marriage service at its public service hall, enhancing the convenience of marriage registration. Couples who registered on that day could receive blessings from an AI cyber matchmaker by tapping their phones and also record their vows through this innovative service, capturing precious moments in life.

“I often use ‘Alipay tap to pay’ for daily purchases, but I never thought it could be used for marriage registration. It’s so convenient and surprising,” said Mr. Zhou, a couple who experienced this new service at the West Lake District public service hall.

Previously, couples in Hangzhou needed to make online reservations and then arrive at the marriage registration window on the day of their appointment. They would show a confirmation message, sign in manually with staff, collect a number using their ID, and wait for their turn to handle related procedures. If they had no prior record of interacting with Hangzhou’s government services, they needed to enter their phone numbers manually.

With the 'Tap to Register' service, couples only need to unlock their phones and tap the blue ring on Alipay for quick number collection. This significantly reduces the cumbersome information entry process, providing a fresh experience for couples collecting their certificates.

“Tap to Register not only makes marriage registration more convenient but also adds an element of fun and creativity with AI cyber matchmaker blessings. We hope this service enhances the ceremony, capturing precious moments in life,” explained a staff member at the marriage registration window.

At the event site, couples could also interact with an AI cyber matchmaker by tapping their phones to receive blessings through musical performances. Additionally, they could record their vows or feelings on this special day and save them in a commemorative frame for future playback.

As of the time of writing, 156 couples had participated in this event.
